The King, part II

So, even though the letter writing thing was over, they were happy to let us have a last minute part in it.  We took our letters and presented them here, with a bit of ceremony and a few camera man.  The lady said we'd be on TV, which would be funny.  If any members see it they would be pretty surprised.  Nothing like the Mormon missionaries formally presenting blessings to the King of Thailand.

We had a quick decision to make about bowing, as we can't be involved in Buddhist practices, let alone on TV.  However, it wasn't worship that everyone does (we've got no offering, incence, etc), but rather a replica of the regular political formalities here, as the king can't be out and about much these days, we were satisfied with our picture.  Each of us bowed  a different amount, so we formed a bit of a fan.  We all have a great amount of respect for the man, as he has done so much for this country.  It was a neat chance to show respect for the people here and the country where we serve.  After all, we are the only Elders who have the King in their area.
